Breakfast by day, bands by night: Blue Lion Pub lights up The Woodlands with food, fun, live entertainment

When Blue Lion Pub first opened its doors in 2020, it had one goal: to be more than just another bar. Founder Wesley Cordova wanted to create a place where people shared stories over drinks, strangers became regulars and community meant something real. Then the pandemic hit.

Rather than close, Cordova and his team dug in, and against all odds, the pub became a sanctuary for anyone looking for a place that felt like home during these uncertain times.

In 2023, just as the original Blue Lion was hitting its stride, a major shift unfolded. The pub was forced to leave its original location, a move that could have spelled the end. But instead, it marked a new beginning.

“Travis Fitzpatrick had been a regular at Blue Lion since day one,” Cordova said. “He wanted to help keep the magic alive, so with support from Travis and Millie Fitzpatrick, we found a new, larger home on McBeth Way.”

The Blue Lion

The move to McBeth Way didn’t just give the pub more space; it also brought the return of a local favorite. Now operating as a connected concept called The Blue Lion, the space serves breakfast daily from 7 a.m.-2 p.m.

Some of the breakfast offerings include:
  • Full English breakfast
  • Breakfast tacos
  • Avocado toast
  • Biscuits and gravy combo
  • Chicken fried steak
In addition to its food, the space proudly features a mural commemorating the 50th anniversary of The Woodlands. Painted by John Cooper School alum Catherine Stroud, the vibrant artwork has become a point of pride and a visual tribute to the community the pub serves.

Live entertainment

Entertainment is a core part of the experience at Blue Lion Pub. Whether people are looking to dance, meet new people or simply enjoy a show, the pub offers something for everyone.

Blue Lion Pub entertainment schedule
  • Monday: Tabletop social
  • Tuesday: Trevia with Trevor
  • Thursday: Jukebox Bingo and karoake on alternating weeks
  • Friday and Saturday: live music
“We have people of all ages coming out to have fun, meet new people and listen to great music,” Travis Fitzpatrick said.

Live music

Live music at Blue Lion Pub is a carefully curated experience that honors local talent, with every performance crafted to strike the perfect chord with the crowd.

From upbeat variety bands and blues duos to themed nights like emo and ‘80s throwbacks, the lineup is as dynamic as it is entertaining. Sound quality is never an afterthought either. Each show benefits from professional audio engineering that brings clarity and depth to every chord.

“Our sound guy Fil Wathen and booking agent Anthony Pitt have truly mastered the art of finding top-notch musicians and making performers sound great every time,” Travis Fitzpatrick said. “They’ve helped us achieve my dream that no matter what night of the week we have live music, the band will always be good. That’s a promise I can stand by.”

Upcoming live music schedule includes:
  • June 6: The Outsiders
  • June 7: School of Rock and Luke Jazz Band
  • June 11: Shekere
  • June 13: FM Radio
  • June 14: Tracy Perez
  • June 20: Sector A
  • June 25: Shekere
  • June 27: Ultraviolet
Cinco De Mayo event: May 5

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo the Blue Lion way on May 5 with a lively evening full of flavor and rhythm.

The Harris County Band will take the stage from 5-9 p.m., bringing a vibrant mix of Tejano tunes to set the mood.

Guests can enjoy tacos and tequila specials throughout the evening, making it the perfect way to kick back and soak up the festive vibes.

Grand opening event: May 10

Blue Lion Pub is officially raising a glass to its grand opening from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. May 10, and they’re doing it in true pub fashion.

Celebrations will include crawfish, live music, face painting, a photo booth and raffle giveaways.

The live music lineup features three acts: The Slaggs, Johnny B and a third performer to be announced soon. Guests who wear blue or Blue Lion gear can enter a raffle for a chance to win VIP Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion tickets.

“It’s our way of saying thank you to the community and showing people what the Blue Lion experience is all about—good music, good food and a place where everyone feels welcome,” Travis Fitzpatrick said.

Weekly specials

In addition to live entertainment, Blue Lion Pub offers rotating weekly specials on drinks, giving everyone even more reasons to stop by and try something new.
  • Monday: half-off wine bottles
  • Tuesday: half-off tequila and Mexican beers
  • Wednesday: half-off whiskeys
  • Thursday: half-off everything from Texas
  • Sunday: happy hour from 11 a.m.-11 p.m.

The Blue Lion is currently offering $5 off any purchase of $25 or more, limited to one use per customer.
