Butler moves over to Elaine S. Schlather after a 16-year career at Byron P. Steele High School. During that time, he worked as an English teacher and athletics coach before moving into an assistant principal role for the 2022-23 school year, according to a news release.
Butler is a San Antonio native and a graduate of Judson High School. He also served as an Army combat medic and lab technician before receiving his Bachelor of Science from The University of Texas at San Antonio and a master’s in education from Lamar University, the news release states.

Butler said he was honored to be selected for the position.
"It's not only a professional milestone for me but a personal one," Butler said.
