A closer look

Jesus Saenz, director of airports, San Antonio airport system, or SAAS, said the increase in passenger demand has led to more momentum to add new features to the customer experience.

“We continue to experience strong growth at SAT," Saenz said in a news release. "With 48 nonstop destinations and more on the horizon, we’re expanding air service like never before. At the same time, we’re elevating every part of the customer journey. It’s all part of delivering an airport experience for which San Antonio can be proud.”

SAT officials also discussed plans to move forward with the design and construction of a new parking structure to accommodate up to 2,000 vehicles. SAT is also in the process of planning its Ground Transportation Center, which will provide a centralized location for shuttles, rideshares, taxis and more.

“This is a pivotal moment for SAT,” added Saenz. “These initiatives are about more than just keeping pace with the growth of the region; they’re about leading the way in delivering a world-class travel experience.”
