Some details
Gruene Hall—which was established in 1878— is Texas' oldest continually operating dance hall. The dance hall has been under ownership of the Molak Family since 1975, hosting performances from various artists such as LeAnn Rimes, George Strait and Jerry Jeff Walker, according to a news release.
What they're saying
Susie Molak, wife of the late Pat Molak, said Gruene Hall is a place where music lives and history happens.
"The 50th anniversary isn't just about celebrating Gruene Hall; it’s about honoring the fans, the artists and the community that have kept this tradition alive," Susie Molak said in the news release.
Katie Courtney, daughter of founder Pat Molak, said her father saw something in Gruene Hall that no one else did.
“50 years later, his vision is still thriving, and this celebration is a tribute to the artists, guests and staff who have made it all possible," Courtney said in the release.
George Strait said it was difficult for him to think about his career in country music without thinking of Gruene Hall.
“I love that it’s part of my history. There’s just no other place like it,” Strait said in the release.
