Community efforts led to the construction of a new monument honoring Purple Heart recipients at Boerne’s Veterans Plaza.

Boerne nonprofit organization, The Purple Heart Project, led the installation of the new monument, which is located just outside the main plaza in the center of the park.

As a nonprofit-led project, the monument was paid for through community support and donations from local businesses and organizations. Double R Enterprise Inc. and Bernhard Bros. Construction handled the installation of the monument.

Honoring Purple Heart recipients, the installation reads: “They paid for our freedom with blood. All gave some. Some gave all.”


The monument will be officially unveiled during National Purple Heart Day on Aug. 7.
