The amount of rentals available rose 12.7% compared to last year after realtors added 7,117 new listings to the Multiple Listing Service, which is a record high, according to the report. Meanwhile, the average lease price rose 1.0% compared to June last year.

“What we're seeing in the rental sector really ties into the overall strength of Houston's housing market,” HAR Chair Shae Cottar said in the report. “We expect leasing activity to remain strong in the coming months, especially with continued demand from people relocating or exploring flexible housing options.”
