In less than one month, New Caney ISD schools will welcome students for the 2025-26 school year. Keep reading for need-to-know information ahead of the first day of school Aug. 6.

A quick note

According to an NCISD news release, school hours for the 2025-26 school year will be 8:30 a.m.-3:55 p.m. for elementary schools, 7 a.m.-2:25 p.m. for middle schools, and 7:45 a.m.-3:10 p.m. for high schools. The bell schedule will be:
  • Doors open at 7:45 a.m. for elementary schools, 6:30 a.m. for middle schools and 7:15 a.m. for high schools
  • First bell rings at 8:20 a.m. for elementary schools, 6:50 a.m. for middle schools and 7:35 a.m. for high schools
  • The tardy bell rings at 8:30 a.m. for elementary schools, 7 a.m. for middle schools and 7:45 a.m. for high schools
  • The school day ends at 3:55 p.m. for elementary schools, 2:25 p.m. for middle schools and 3:10 p.m. for high schools
First steps

Returning and new student registration for the 2025-26 school year opened July 15 for NCISD, according to the district’s news release. New students can register online here. Returning students can register online here.

After registering online, new students' parents or guardians are asked to bring required student documents to Valley Ranch Elementary, located at 21700 Valley Ranch Crossing Drive, Porter. Dates and times when documents can be dropped off are:
  • 11 a.m.-7 p.m. July 22
  • 9 a.m.-5 p.m. July 23
  • 9 a.m.-5 p.m. July 24
According to NCISD’s website, required documents for student registration are:
  • Certified copy or official birth certificate
  • Social security card
  • Custody or guardianship documents for the student
  • Proof of residency, which can be a utility bill or lease agreement showing the physical address of the parent or guardian
  • Immunization/shot records
  • Most recent report card or grade transcript
  • Valid photo identification of parent or guardian
