Meet the owner
Boo's Burger is a smash burger concept from native Houstonian Joseph Boudreaux, who grew up in the city's east side and learned to cook from the men in his family.
Earning a degree in entrepreneurship from the University of Houston, Boudreaux spent several years working as a project manager in banking before being laid off in 2018.
After being laid off, he decided to lean fully into his love of food and community. During the pandemic, he began hosting casual pop-ups, offering breakfast sandwiches and burgers that echoed the cookouts of his upbringing.
Boo's Burger enters its fifth year with a permanent location, drawing inspiration from nostalgic diners and roadside burger stands of the past, and reimagined through the styles of streetwear, hip-hop and Houston's ever-evolving cultural identity.
"We built Boo's one pop-up at a time, but the goal was to always create a place that felt like home," Boudreaux said. "This new space in the East End lets us serve the community that's supported us since day one. We look forward to doing what we love: making honest food for the city that made us."
What they offer
The new location has resulted in a bigger kitchen, leading to an expanded menu.
Boo's Burgers offers ground beef from Texas-based 44 Farms, that are made into the restaurant's classic Boo's OG, a classic smashburger featuring 44 Farms beef, American cheese, shaved onions, spicy pickles, sliced tomatoes and shredded lettuce, all tucked into a buttered challah bun from local bakery Cake and Bacon, finished with the restaurant's signature smoky burger sauce. Guests can also double up the patties, or add bacon.

Also on the menu are the grilled cheese on toasted milk bread, and seasoned fries tossed in Boo's special spice blend. Fries can be dipped into the Boo's OG Sauce, house made herby ranch and garlic aioli.
