The details
Matty G's Steakburgers is a steakburger restaurant with other locations in Arizona and Idaho.
Gorman said he describes Matty G's as a "mini Hall of Fame" with old school sports decor and jerseys from different sports such as football and hockey. It's also a place Gorman said people can come and watch sports, as the restaurant is planned to have 16 TVs for customers to watch sports.
"I always say it like this, a grandfather who's not necessarily cool to the grandkids anymore, can see a jersey on the wall and go, 'Oh, I remember when Willie Mays made that catch back in the day,'" Gorman said. "It brings generations together, allows people and families to just kind of have that old school family meal where people aren't texting the whole time."
What's on the menu
Matty G's serves steakburgers, which Gorman said is different from a regular burger as the restaurant uses their own proprietary blend of meat that they flatten when cooked on the flat top grill, creating a crust for the burger and locks the juices in.
"It's that medium to medium-well cook where it makes everybody happy," Gorman said. "The well done people don't have the red, and the medium rare people still have the juiciness of the burger."
The restaurant also serves salads, lobster rolls, hot dogs, wraps, street foods and side baskets like onion rings and fried pickles.
Customers can end the meal with sweet desserts such as a root beer float, a deep fried peanut butter and jelly sandwich and deep fried chocolate chip cookie dough.
"I hope to be part of the Houston community where we know everybody's name," Gorman said. "We get to recognize people and know their families."
