Houston-born, South American steakhouse chain Churrascos has closed its River Oaks location after 30 years, according to restaurant's Facebook page.

What we know

Established in 1988 by Nicaraguan-born chef Michael Cordúa, Churrascos offers Latin American flavors through appetizers like empanadas and ceviches, to their signature chimichurri marinated center-cut tenderloin and Tres Leches.

Churrascos officials said in the Facebook post that "this is not a goodbye, it's a 'see you soon,'" as they also announced that they intend on opening a new Churrascos in a new location, although no official date has been given out yet.

Despite the River Oak's location closure, the restaurant still has three other locations in Sugar Land, Memorial City and The Woodlands.
