What happened
The $22 million effort to improve the Kickerillo-Mischer Preserve was secured by U.S. Rep. Sam Harless, R-Spring, during the 89th legislative session.
“This is the park and lake most of us see while driving along Cypresswood and the Tomball Parkway that has a dam that holds back a substantial amount of water,” Harless said in a May news release. “These funds will be used to repair a number of erosion-damaged sites along a 5,700-foot section of the dam.”
Harless also said the funding will be used to install engineering technology to safeguard parts of the dam from future erosion.
Funding the project
The funding comes from the Texas Water Development Board in collaboration with the Harris County Flood Control District. The project is currently in the design phase, according to the news release.
