The decision comes after CISD Curtis Null was named the lone finalist in the search for the Lake Travis ISD superintendent at a special meeting of the LTISD board of trustees on May 1.
The CISD board of trustees did not make a decision on the interim superintendent in its May 13 meeting, but received input for the naming of six new schools as well as attendance boundaries for a new high school. Further discussion on both will be held in June, officials said.
The gist
CISD Communications Director Sarah Blakelock told the board at the May 13 meeting the district received school name submissions during a public input period ending May 9. The new schools are being built as part of the 2023 bond, as previously reported by Community Impact.
Schools being named include:
- Grand Oaks ninth-grade campus: 209 submissions received
- Caney Creek ninth-grade campus: 59 submissions received
- Grand Oaks elementary school: 67 submissions received
- Flex 26 intermediate school: 106 submissions received
- Grand Oaks seventh-eighth grade campus: 344 submissions received
- Conroe and Timber Mill feeders junior high school: 85 submissions received
- Virtual school: 24 submissions received
- Agriculture barns: 117 total submissions received

Assistant Superintendent of Operations Chris McCord gave an update from the Attendance Boundary Committee in its progress of narrowing down the initial scenarios for the Timber Mill High School feeder area.
Through its website, the committee shares possible rezoning scenarios with map proposals for the new schools. McCord said there are 12 current scenarios, with six vetted by the committee.
The committee will meet in June to discuss and review the parent input from the scenarios. A community presentation will be held June 10 and June 16.
