After 45 years of service, Kroger will be closing in early June in Dickinson, according to an April 9 press release from the business.

Kroger is a grocery retail store that sells produce, meat, seafood, deli and baked items, among other items and services, according to its website.

While the reason for the closing was not disclosed, the city of Dickinson released a statement on the closing, noting that it’s important to shop local.

“While this was a decision made by a private business, it serves as an important reminder of the power of shopping local,” the statement read. “Every dollar spent within city limits helps support our local economy, maintain city services and attract future businesses.”


Also of note

The Kroger news release said all associates will be reassigned to other Kroger locations.

According to the news release, there are four nearby locations, with three in League City and one in Texas City.
