The meeting will be held June 11 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the City Council chamber at the temporary city hall location at 2360 Campbell Creek Blvd., Ste. 525.
The meeting’s purpose is to gather community input on potential service areas and fare changes that could impact riders across all 13 member cities.
Sorting out details
Potential service changes include eliminating nine bus routes and GoLink zones, DART microtransit option service offering curb-to-curb transportation, according to the DART website.
Other potential changes include reduction in frequency across most bus routes, light rail and Trinity Railway Express services.
Rate changes include replacing the TRE One-Way Pass with a 3-hour regional pass at $6 or a reduced regional 3-hour pass for $3, eliminating the regional annual pass and establishing a regional monthly pass for the $96.
The context
The potential changes are driven by the implementation of DART’s general mobility program, which allocates 5% of the agency’s annual sales tax collections, which equates to about $42 million, to Addison, Carrollton, Farmers Branch, Highland Park, Richardson, Plano and University Park.
The program was adopted in response to concerns some member cities raised regarding sales tax equity.
What else
A telephone town hall will be held June 27 and a virtual town hall will take place July 1, with a public hearing scheduled for July 8 at DART Headquarters in Dallas.
