The city of Richardson received $3.862 million in sales tax revenue from sales made in May, according to a news release from the state comptroller’s office.

Sales tax revenue in Richardson was up 0.36% from $3.848 million received from last year. Additionally, the year-to-date payment totals $27.962 million, up 5.6% from the same period in 2024.
The comptroller’s office distributed $1.2 billion in sales tax revenue to city and county governments, transit systems and special purpose districts, up 6.1% from revenue distributed in June 2024. Sales tax is the largest source of funding for the state budget and makes up approximately 58% of all taxes collected in the state.
