People must be registered to vote in the county where they live.
Those unsure whether their voter information is correct can use this link to check their registration.
The Nov. 8 election includes governor, railroad commissioner and Supreme Court of Texas races. There are also a host of local elections and state representative races.
Early voting begins Oct. 24 and runs through Nov. 4.
To be eligible to vote in Texas, applicants must:
- be a U.S. citizen;
 - be a resident of the county where the application is submitted;
 - be 18 years old on Election Day;
 - not be a convicted felon (some may be eligible to vote if they have completed their sentence, probation and parole); and
 - not have been declared by a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be either totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote.
