The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board is sponsoring the exchange program, which allows students to sign up for online courses from schools statewide while also enrolled in Collin College courses, the release states. This program was first tested in 2023 with 15 schools and will expand to include 24 schools this fall.
The program aims to both increase availability of courses while also supporting students completing their education, the release stated. Collin College will also serve as a teaching institute within the program, offering online course seats to students at other schools.
“This program expands that access to students at partner institutions across Texas while removing many of the hurdles they might encounter in searching for and cross-registering at multiple colleges,” Collin College District President Neil Matkin said in the release.
Founded in 1985, Collin College serves over 60,000 students each year and offers more than 200 degrees and certificates in areas including nursing, cybersecurity and more, the release states. The college has campuses in Allen, Celina, Farmersville, Frisco, McKinney, Plano and Wylie.
