In a nutshell
A post on the city’s Facebook page states the updated markings include lane striping, crosswalks, directional arrows, raised dome markings and high-visibility thermoplastic in select areas. Work is typically happening in two phases throughout the day: the grinding work takes place during regular working hours while new paint is applied overnight to minimize traffic disruptions.
The post states there is additional striping on Keller Smithfield Road South that is being installed to help guide traffic through the widest section of the road.
Northbound lanes between Brentwood Trail and Rosewood Trail have been striped to accommodate a single lane of through traffic and add right-turn lanes into nearby neighborhoods. Similar striping on the southbound side helps prevent drivers from trying to bypass vehicles ahead of them.
Rachel Reynolds, Keller's communication and public engagement manager, said via email that weather permitting, the city anticipates mid to late May for completion of the project.
“[Contractors] are nearly finished up with the first-run locations and then will be moving on to the second list,” Reynolds said.
