Northwest ISD held its first town hall Sept. 9 to discuss this school year’s voter-approval tax rate election, or VATRE.

Northwest ISD’s board of trustees called for the VATRE during a regular board meeting Aug. 12, which, if approved, could generate $12 million in funding for the district for the 2025-26 school year.

The district plans to have seven more events to share information with the public about the VATRE, which is scheduled to be on the Nov. 4 ballot. Most of the events will take place at different locations throughout the district, with the last taking place online in a livestream.
