The new location will serve as a crucial testing site for Aerolane's ongoing FAA supplemental type certification process. Additionally, it will support the launch of Aerolane's first Aerocart cargo glider system for commercial service later this year, according to a news release.
Aerolane, the pioneer of the patented Aerocart technology, announced a series of autonomous towed cargo glider systems that can increase the capacity of existing planes with only a slight increase in fuel consumption.
According to the news release, the Aerocart technology was inspired by the use of cargo gliders during World War II. Since 2022, Aerolane has tested a variety of prototype Aerocarts across Texas and Florida.
