American Airlines announced new summer vacation destinations across the country, including two new routes from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.

The Fort Worth-based airline added summer season service to Athens, Greece, starting May 21, 2026, and to Zurich, Switzerland, from May 21 to Aug. 4, 2026, according to an Aug. 7 news release.

Flights to Athens International Airport will be on a Boeing 787-8, while flights to Zurich Airport will be on a Boeing 777-200, according to the airline.

DFW Airport will be American’s fifth nonstop destination to Athens and will have daily flights, according to the airline.


Additional flights to Europe that include Milan, Budapest and Prague will originate out of Miami and Philadelphia.

“Customers continue to tell us that Europe is where they want to go each summer and these new routes make it even easier to cross the Atlantic in 2026,” said Brian Znotins, American’s senior vice president of network and schedule planning.

Along with the European flights, American Airlines announced it will extend its service to Buenos Aires, Argentina, from May 21 to Aug. 3, 2026.


The flights from to DFW Airport to Ministro Pistarini International Airport will happen four times a week and coincide with the Dallas-Fort Worth area hosting the 2026 World Cup. Argentina won the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

In other news

American Airlines also announced it will have additional premium cabin offerings on flights from DFW Airport and Los Angeles International Airport to Tokyo Haneda Airport in 2026. Starting March 29, there will be daily flights to Tokyo on a Boeing 777-300 with 45% more premium seating compared to 2025 flights, according to the news release.

American premium economy seating on those flights features wide seats, more legroom, chef-inspired dining options, complimentary beer, wine and spirits, free on-demand entertainment, noise-reducing headphones, Wi-Fi and every seat has power outlets and USB ports, according to its website.
