The gist
Landmark Coffee plans to open this summer in a building that was originally a gas station at 503 S. Main Street, Ste. 100, in Grapevine.
During the May 20 meeting, the Grapevine City Council and Planning & Zoning Commission both approved a conditional use permit, 7-0.
According to city documents, the renovations include building a replica vintage gas pump as an ode to the building’s history, a coffee bar and a pastry display case. There will also be seating for 12 outside.
The backstory
The owners are Brady and Whitney Johnson, who are Grapevine residents. They have experience in the business with a hotel-based shop at Texican Court hotel in the Las Colinas area of Irving, Best Friend Coffee at The Domain in Austin and a mobile coffee business that operates in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, according to a letter presented to the council.
“We bring years of experience operating intentional, community-centered coffee spaces, and we've shaped Landmark to specifically to complement Main Street and serve Grapevine well,” Brady Johnson said.
