1. AT&T to build new 54-acre global headquarters campus in Plano

AT&T is planning to relocate its global headquarters to a new 54-acre campus in Plano’s Legacy District. The new headquarters will be located at 5400 Legacy Drive, which is part of the former Ross Perot Electronic Data Systems campus at the intersection of Parkwood Boulevard and Legacy Drive.

2. Check out 10 McKinney businesses that closed in 2025

Several McKinney businesses closed in 2025, including local restaurants and retail chains. Closed stores include farm, ranch and home supply retailer Gebo's, the convenience store and eatery Neighborhood Nosh and Round Table Pizza, a pizzeria offering specialty pizzas named for characters in Arthurian legends.

3. Joint restaurant IHOP, Applebee's coming to Dallas Love Field Airport


A joint restaurant containing IHOP and Applebee's will be located on the public side of the terminal, between the Transportation Security Administration screening area and the baggage claim hallway. The restaurant is expected to open later this January.

4. $5M shopping center to bring more retail space to Denton in 2027

Construction on Denton Prosperity Shopping Center is expected to begin in February and be completed by February 2027, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The $5 million project will be constructed from the ground up and will have 33,000 square feet of retail space.

5. See 9 businesses opening 2026 in Flower Mound, Highland Village, Argyle

Several new businesses are set to open in the Flower Mound, Highland Village and Argyle area this year, including a new pilates studio, a barbecue restaurant and a golf simulator business.

6. McKinney Sunset Amphitheater now projected to open in 2027

Venu, the owner and developer behind the McKinney Sunset Amphitheater, is now targeting a completion date in 2027 instead of 2026. The $300 million project is already under construction after officials broke ground in June. The amphitheater was expected to debut in time for the 2026 touring season; however, the updated schedule now expects final completion in September 2027. A date for the venue’s first concert has not been determined yet.
