The Frisco Police Department is set to get two new auxiliary buildings, a parking garage and a communications tower.

Frisco Planning and Zoning Commission approved a preliminary site plan for the additions at its meeting April 22.

The item was part of the commission’s consent agenda, which was approved unanimously. The parking garage is expected to cost $20 million, according to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing.

The details

The additions to Frisco police headquarters will sit on about 14.3 acres on the northwest corner of Parkwood Boulevard and Stonebrook Parkway.

The land is currently zoned for office space with a specific-use permit for a communications tower.

Jon Kendall, chair of the planning and zoning commission, previously said the new parking garage could protect police vehicles from hail and other weather damage.
