1. Frisco ISD to begin armed school marshal program at elementary campuses

Frisco ISD will be placing an armed officer at each of its elementary school campuses over the next two school years. Through the program, the district will hire 49 marshals with four lead marshals. Marshals will be on campus solely for armed protection and not to stop fights or direct traffic.

2. Frisco ISD launches new tuition-based pre-K program

FISD announced its full-day, tuition-based pre-K program Sept. 15. Children at least 4 years of age on or before Sept. 1 are eligible for the program, district officials said. Tuition for the program is $678 per month or free for qualifying students.


3. Frisco ISD to close Staley Middle School

Frisco ISD’s Staley Middle School will be closed after the 2025-26 school year. The need for the closure comes after a failed bond program, which voters denied in November 2024, and declining enrollment. Staley Middle School students will be rezoned to Hunt, Trent and Griffin middle schools.

4. Frisco ISD superintendent to retire in 2026

Frisco ISD's superintendent of schools since 2017 is stepping down at the end of this school year. The district's board of trustees have begun the process of identifying candidates for the next superintendent by bringing on the consulting firm Impact Education Specialists.


5. Frisco ISD to end school a week early in the 2026-27 school year

Frisco ISD students will be out of school a week earlier than usual in the 2026-27 school year due to the upcoming PGA Championship. The championship, which will be held the week of May 17, 2027, creates operational and safety concerns, and district officials determined from a safety and security standpoint that the best way to move forward was to end the school year a week earlier than typical.

6. Frisco ISD expands open enrollment program to high school

Access Frisco, the district's open enrollment program, will now allow prekindergarten through ninth-grade students from surrounding areas to attend Frisco ISD schools. The open enrollment program is intended to balance class sizes and improve operational efficiency.
