Frisco ISD will launch a new virtual learning program, Frisco Flex, in fall 2026.

The program gives families education options that include fully online enrollment or a hybrid in-person and virtual learning experience, according to a Nov. 3 district news release.

About the program

Frisco Flex offers several education pathways for families.

The fully online model provides a path to graduation through online courses taught by FISD teachers. The program is available to Texas residents, and coursework must be completed within Texas.

The hybrid program will combine online and on-campus learning. Students who take a minimum of four courses will be considered hybrid. This program is available for current FISD students and incoming ninth graders enrolled in Access Frisco.

Additional information on Frisco Flex, including program pathways and course offerings, can be found on the district’s website.

Some context

FISD is facing declining student enrollment and recently launched its Access Frisco program, which allows kindergarten through seventh-grade students from surrounding areas to attend FISD schools. The program started in the 2025-26 school year.

The district’s current senior class is around 5,800 students, and current kindergarten enrollment is around 3,200 students, said Todd Fouche, FISD’s deputy superintendent, during the Frisco Chamber of Commerce’s State of Education Luncheon on Oct. 30. The discrepancy in enrollment has led district officials to find new ways to find students, Fouche said, with one solution being to bring in out-of-district students.

"We're in a competitive environment right now,” Fouche said. "We have to do a better job of telling our story."
