The American chain White Castle is set to open its first Texas location in The Colony.

What's on the menu

Founded in Wichita, Kansas, White Castle is credited with creating the first fast food hamburger chain. Its menu features various slider sandwiches, including The Original Slider made with beef that is steam grilled on a bed of onions and served with a slice of pickle. Other sliders include the cheese slider, crispy chicken slider, bacon cheese sliders and a panko breaded fish slider.

Along with french fries, its menu includes sides such as mozzarella cheese sticks, onion rings, chicken rings and more. Dessert options include a strawberry cheesecake on-a-stick, fudge-dipped brownie on-a-stick and the gooey butter cake on-a-stick, according to its website.

The restaurant opening is anticipated to create 80 to 100 jobs, according to an Aug. 21 news release. White Castle operates 335 restaurants nationwide.

“White Castle has been creating memorable moments with our iconic hot and tasty sliders for more than a century, and today, we are reaching a new milestone as we prepare to bring that crave to Texas for the very first time,” said Lisa Ingram, CEO of White Castle and a member of the founding family’s fourth generation, in the release. “We couldn’t imagine a more fitting location than Grandscape in The Colony for our debut in the Lone Star State, and we can’t wait to welcome new cravers into the White Castle family.”
