Simmer Down Cafe in Georgetown switches things up with new menu, fresh look

Simmer Down Cafe in Georgetown has an exciting new experience for customers to try.

The well-known local breakfast spot has a refurbished dining room and new menu after undergoing renovations in October, owner Chris Marino said.

The family business originally opened in spring 2017, and Marino said his nephews, son and brother all work alongside him to keep the restaurant running.

New McDonald’s coming soon to Georgetown

A McDonald’s is slated to open in Georgetown near the Wolf Ranch Town Center this spring.

While the store is still under inspections, officials are targeting an opening date of May 7, a spokesperson for the franchise said in an email. The opening date is subject to change.

Desi Brothers Farmers Market now open in Round Rock

Indian and Middle Eastern grocer Desi Brothers Farmers Market opened in the Round Rock Crossing retail center in April.

The store is close to 49,000 square feet, slightly larger than the Best Buy located next door, and features traditional Indian groceries. The store offers unique brands, such as Nirav, Amul, Haldiram and Swagat.

San Marcos asks Guadalupe County to address health hazards in Redwood, Rancho Vista

On April 1, San Marcos City Council approved a resolution asking Guadalupe County to address potential health and safety issues in the Redwood and Rancho Vista communities, following reports of increased intestinal parasites among residents.

The resolution encourages the county to seek state and federal assistance, including funding from the Texas Water Development Board’s Economically Distressed Area Program.

NB's Wicked Bah Pizza to close in New Braunfels

NB's Wicked Bah Pizza is closing its doors at 111 S. Union Ave., Ste. 123, New Braunfels, according to a Facebook post.

"This is not a 'goodbye,' it's a 'see you later,'" the post states.


The fast casual pizza restaurant opened in November 2022, according to previous reporting by Community Impact.
