After nine years of blending smoothies at Mother Nature’s Cafe in Round Rock, owner Man Mohan Sharma has it down to a science.

As a nutritionist and author of several health-focused books, Sharma said he is committed to serving smoothies that promote the health and wellness of customers.

“My strong belief is that food is my medicine,” Sharma said. “I ensure that whatever smoothies we do—they heal people.”

What’s on the menu

Mother Nature’s Cafe offers smoothies, teas and to-go powders with plant-based ingredients and no added sugars. Some of the most popular menu items include the mango protein smoothie, green turmeric tea, the belly buster smoothie and the queen’s choice smoothie.

“We have got a scale here and we measure the ice for thickness,” Sharma said. “We have taken it to such an extent to see that people are served in a way that they enjoy it and it is independent of the operator.”

Sharma said drink recipes take him anywhere from days to months to perfect.

He created the belly buster smoothie based on daily fiber intake recommendations and developed the queen’s choice smoothie to address his wife’s health and hormone needs.

“Every smoothie is like my child,” Sharma said

Another popular item that people travel to the cafe for is its green turmeric tea, which Sharma says is made of two types of tea from Darjeeling in the Himalayas—along with turmeric, ginger, lemon and honey.

“We sell the concentrate and people come from Dripping Springs, they come from Georgetown to buy that drink,” Sharma said. “Now, we are able to develop a product to send it [in the] post.”

Along with serving the local community, Sharma said he now ships to cities like Houston and Chicago.

The details

According to Sharma, his inspiration behind the business came from his passion for food and helping people. Now, Sharma said his clientele is made up of around 80%-90% of repeat customers.

“ I wanted to do a soulful project,” Sharma said. “It's not the money.”

Along with serving drinks, Sharma also shares his nutrition knowledge with customers and offers free wellness assessments and paid dietary planning services.

“I don't sell any medication. I don't promote any company. I am a salesman for apples, bananas, berries and cherries,” Sharma said.

The cafe is open Monday-Saturday and is located inside LA Fitness.
