Jim Morris and Aaron King won the June 7 runoff elections for Hutto City Council Place 3 and Place 6, respectively, according to unofficial results.

Overview

In the race for Place 3, Morris, who received 746 votes, defeated Cory Denena, who received 588 votes. Morris will fill the seat vacated by Council Member Randal Clark, who did not run for reelection.

“I am overwhelmed with the results of the Hutto City Council runoff election seating me for the next 3 years on the dais,” Morris wrote in a Facebook post. “I do not underestimate the magnitude nor the seriousness of the responsibilities as a representative of all citizens of Hutto.”

In the Place 6 election, King received 738 votes, defeating Incumbent Amberley Kolar, who received 593 votes.

“As I’ve said from the beginning, I am committed to serving you with openness, honesty, transparency and integrity,” King said in a social media post. “That commitment does not change with this victory—it only deepens.”

What else?

The runoff elections stem from the May 3 general election, in which Mayor Mike Snyder was reelected. Snyder narrowly defeated his opponent, Henry Gideon, receiving 1,077 votes to Gideon’s 1,013 votes.

"I'm thankful for everybody that came out and supported me, and [I'm] looking forward to another three years," Snyder told Community Impact. "I'm just really proud of everybody that was involved and all the help that they gave."

All election results are unofficial until canvassed.
