Georgetown ISD families can attend two back-to-school events Aug. 2 ahead of the first day of school Aug. 14.
Families can receive free backpacks and school supplies for their students at a drive-thru event hosted by the Georgetown Cultural Citizen Memorial Association. Additionally, GISD will host a vaccine clinic to provide students with recommended and required vaccinations.
What you need to know
The Georgetown Cultural Citizen Memorial Association will hold its annual backpack and school supply distribution event from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Aug. 2 at the Carver Center for Families, 1200 W. 17th St., Georgetown.
Families with children in kindergarten through 12th grade can pick up free backpacks and school supplies through multiple drive-thru lanes while supplies last.
The event is made possible through support from the Carver Center, STARRY, the Georgetown Cultural Citizen Memorial Association, the Georgetown police and fire departments, H-E-B, First Texas Bank, A+ Federal Credit Union and Weaver. The 2024 event served more than 2,000 families, according to the district's website.

Families can attend the GISD back-to-school vaccine clinic from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Aug. 2 at the Hammerlun Center for Leadership and Learning, 507 E. University Ave., Georgetown. The event will be hosted in partnership with Aurora Concepts Family Medical Practice.
The clinic will offer required vaccines for incoming kindergarten and seventh-grade students as well as recommended vaccines for seniors, according to GISD information.
