YMCA of Central Texas, in partnership with Williamson County, has broken ground on two expansions that will add new activities to their Cedar Park location.

On May 13, representatives from the YMCA joined Williamson County leaders to break ground on two new expansions at Twin Lakes Family YMCA in Cedar Park. The new facilities include the Avery Family Pavilion and the Orr Family RCI Adventure Course, which will cost an estimated $12 million.

“These additions represent the largest outdoor recreation investment in our region in over a decade, and will become destinations for families throughout Central Texas,” said Jeff Andresen, CEO of YMCA of Central Texas, in a news release.

The details

The two outdoor recreation facilities will add new features to the Twin Lakes campus.

The 11,858-square-foot Avery Family Pavilion will serve as a community meeting space that people can use year-round for special events, family gatherings and special YMCA programming.

The RCI Adventure Course will feature zip lines, ropes courses, a sky trail and multi-level climbing structures, which are designed for people of all ages.

“The RCI Adventure Course will be unlike anything currently available to our community, offering adventure for everyone from children to young adults,” Andresen said in the release.

The facilities are slated to open in spring of 2026. Donation opportunities are still available, and those who wish to contribute can contact Theresa Cirigliano at tcirigliano@ymcactx.org.

What they’re saying

“Over the last 19 years in my role with the county, [being] involved with the Y has been nothing but a blessing,” said Williamson County Commissioner Cynthia Long. “Every time there’s a project, the team takes it to the next level.”
