A new facility that will house Bastrop ISD's police department and be a base of district operations is expected to be operational by March of next year, district administrators shared in May.

The big picture

Construction on a $17.5 million facility to house district operations and the police department is ongoing, as reported by Community Impact in March.

In a May 13 update provided to the BISD board of trustees, Director of Construction and Planning Lee Raspberry said the space, which will serve as a base of administrative and operational support for the Bastrop ISD Police Department, will likely be move-in ready by March 2026.

The details

The 55,000-square-foot facility under construction on the 1100 block of Lovers Lane in Bastrop will serve multiple purposes in the district once complete.

It will be a home base for police administration, maintenance, custodial, groundskeeping, warehouse and the district's print shop.

Construction of the facility is funded by the $321.5 million bond passed in 2023, as previously reported.

The voter-approved initiatives encompassed in the bond package included a total of $17.73 million to enhance police operations, such as the installation of security cameras across district campuses.
