Bastrop ISD receives D in newly released 2022-23 TEA accountability ratings

Bastrop ISD received a D for the 2022-23 school year with 65 out of a possible 100 points in the Texas Education Agency's 2022-23 school accountability ratings.

Public schools across the state were rated based on a variety of factors, including academic performance and how prepared students are for college and careers after high school.

Why now?


Ratings for the 2022-23 school year were delayed by lawsuits, and released April 24 following an April 3 ruling in which the Texas 15th Court of Appeals overturned a 2023 injunction that prevented the accountability ratings' release for more than a year.

BISD students launch careers with Acutronic

The first three Bastrop ISD students hired by aerospace, defense and transportation technology company Acutronic through an apprenticeship partnership will be recognized at a celebration May 2.


What they offer

Part of the district’s Pathways in Technology Early College High School, or P-Tech program, the partnership provides students the opportunity to gain real-world experience, where they can learn alongside a dedicated Acutronic Journeyman Technician, earn certifications and accumulate 2,000 on-the-job training hours.

Bastrop ISD partnering with Verizon for Innovative Learning Schools program this fall


Through a partnership with the Verizon Innovative Learning Schools program and nonprofit Digital Promise, two Bastrop ISD middle schools will receive new technology and programming to expand learning and leadership development opportunities for staff and students.

The details

Bastrop Middle School and Cedar Creek Middle School are the first schools in the district involved with the initiative, which will provide 5G-enabled computers to students and staff at those campuses.

Bastrop ISD to begin education, awareness campaign for traumatic brain injuries

Bastrop ISD representatives announced in April how they will utilize an $80,000 grant from Ascension Catholic Church. The funding will go toward an education and awareness campaign for traumatic brain injuries.

What you need to know

During BISD's April 15 board meeting, Mina Elementary School counselor Jennifer Blum addressed the board, stating that the district had determined how it would utilize the Toyota Way Forward Pediatric Trauma-Related Brain Injury Grant Initiative. A total of $170,000 was awarded to Ascension Catholic Church. The church allocated $80,000 of the grant to the district.
