Scooter’s Coffee


The drive-thru coffee franchise will offer hot and iced drinks, including coffee, teas, lemonades and Red Bull infusions. Build-your-own smoothies and blenders will also be available, with add-ins like protein or energy shots, as well as breakfast food and baked goods.Chuy’s

The Grove Daycare Center

According to a permit filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the child care center started construction May 1, and is expected to be completed by May 2027.Westlake Dermatology

Bastrop’s first location of Westlake Dermatology is expected to begin construction in July, with a completion date of November, according to a TDLR filing. The business offers treatment for children and adults with a range of conditions, including dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis and skin tags.Relocations

Joseph’s Steakhouse


The restaurant closed Jan. 21, 2024, and recently opened again in the space previously occupied by City Cafe. The eatery was located at 199 U.S. Hwy. 290, Elgin, before it closed in 2024. Customers can enjoy a range of menu items from steaks and specialties such as Chicken Fried Chicken, to appetizers, sides, cocktails, wine and spirits.

Crawfish KRAK House

Owner Kris Martinez’s crawfish spot serves Louisiana-style crawfish with sides including potatoes, corn and sausage. Martinez said the name Crawfish KRAK House comes from his family members’ initials—Koda, Ryder, Alicia and Kris. The eatery was previously located at 1617 Pine St., Bastrop, and now operates at Back 9 Bar.Here We Go Again

Images Alterations


Owner Lori Hinze purchased the business from Cynthia Garza in early December. The business offers general fittings and alterations, as well as men’s suit fittings and wedding dress fittings. In addition to the new ownership, Hinze said they will be launching the Images Sewing and Fashion Design Academy, which will offer a range of classes for both children and adults, including but not limited to sewing, fashion design and quilting.Closings

FBC Sonshine Academy

The Christ-centered school offered classes for children in kindergarten through fifth grade using the Abeka curriculum for reading, math, science and social studies. An employee with the center said the FBC Sonshine School will continue to run its child care programs for infants to 4 year olds.
